The Montessori inspiration and how it all began:

Introduction by Trudie Walker, Managing Director.

I would like to warmly welcome you to Holly Grange Montessori Nurseries.
Choosing the right nursery for your child can be one of the most difficult decisions a parent makes in their child’s early years. It certainly was for me. I understand how hard it can be entrusting the care of your child to others and choosing the right early years education.

When as a first time parent I decided to return to work my heart was set on finding a nursery that would not only nurture my child in a warm, respectful and caring environment but also offer the right balance of challenge and encouragement. Further research into Early Years education led me to the Montessori philosophy which in turn inspired me to retrain and become a Montessori Teacher.

When as a first time parent I decided to return to work my heart was set on finding a nursery that would nurture my child in a warm and loving environment that would stimulate and challenge her. Further research into Early Years education led me to Montessori and left me in no doubt this approach was the right choice for my child.
Born in 1870, Maria Montessori was the first female Doctor of Medicine in her country. Through her work with socially deprived and special needs children she devised a unique method of education known as the Montessori Method.

it focussed on each child as unique human beings, ensuring they achieved their potential
every child was given the freedom to develop into confident, courteous and considerate young people.

Montessori found through further study, observation and experiments that her principles applied to all children. The Montessori methods has had an impact on education in general and many countries adopted them. Her insights and ideas for helping children grow into healthy, well rounded adults are as relevant now as ever.

Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, I retrained and qualified as a Montessori teacher and opened my first nursery in 1998.

Now with 3 children, a degree in Early Years Education and an Early Years Professional coupled with almost 20 years’ experience as a manager and owner, my dedication has been rewarded. Holly Grange has an excellent reputation for high quality childcare in Cheshire and is consistent in achieving ‘outstanding’ outcomes with Ofsted.

Structured, gentle, orderly, activity centred. Although Montessori’s tried and tested philosophy is over 100 years old, the Montessori curriculum and ethics are as relevant today as ever.
